The Postal Service – We Will Become Silhouettes (Matthew Dear Remix)

As I mentioned in my last post, I bought myself a shiny new camera last week, and have found my enthusiasm for photography – which hadn’t exactly waned! – has grown massively thanks to the new toy. It is a Canon EOS 500d DSLR, so vastly increases the range of things I am able to do and the quality of images I can produce from my previous, very good, Sony Cybershot compact.

To celebrate, I thought I would use one of my first images from the machine, alongside one of my favourite songs. Anyone who has read any two consecutive posts on here will know I adore the Postal Service, and for that matter Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello, their two members. I’m also a big Matthew Dear fan – both his minimal work as Audion and his electro big band solo output. So put the two together and get him remix a song with word Silhouette in the title, it’s a safe bet it was going to appear on here sooner or later with a back lit image up top.

The photo above was one of a series I took in Windsor Great Park over the weekend. I chose this shot above any of the others because I paticularly like the couple in the foreground striding up the hill into their futures… Linking the image pretty closely to the song I think, which is, after all, the point on shotwithsound not lots of lists of what I think is good!

Matthew Dear’s remixed version of We Will Become Silhouettes is available on the EP of the same title, available to buy from Amazon here or to download from The Postal Service - We Will Become Silhouettes - EP
